The fieldwork was preceded by three online workshops. Ongoing workshops with students from the Art High School in Užice provide theoretical groundwork and an introductory step into the practical application of wall painting skills at our workshop’s gathering place, Four Waters. During the workshops, the students learned how to contemplate the idea of a socially engaged image that will reside in public space: how changing the visual landscape affects the environment where it occurs and how the environment allows the new image to continue its independent life. Instructor Jana Danilović shares her approach to creating an idea and a sketch for the image in public space from a feminist perspective. Through collective and collaborative work, the students arrive at the final sketch for the mural.
